Marble Mountain
On the coast just south of Da Nang lie the famous Marble Mountains:
five marble outcrops where you can explore caves that have long been used as Buddhist sanctuaries.
The five mountains are named after the five Chinese elements — fire, earth, water, metal and wood — and the nearby villages are famous for their marble carving. Although the stone is no longer taken from Marble Mountains, you can still see the craftspeople making everything from intricate chess sets to 20-tonne lion sculptures.
